The convergence of existing network structures to a standardized Next Generation Network (NGN) is steadily proceeding because it offers long-term cost benefits. In the future only one single telecommunications network needs to be operated and supported for the transmission of data, voice and multimedia services.
In addition, the maintenance of the TDM backbone networks is becoming more expensive due to partially outdated hardware or discontinued components. To ensure a smooth migration process in the coming years, not only residential customers must be integrated into the NGN structure, but also a variety of business customers with their individual ISDN phones and PBXs.
Up to 4 S0 interfaces enable the migration of max. 8 ISDN terminating devices into the NGN. BIG 55 supports both, ISDN phones in P2MP mode (optional), as well as ISDN PBX systems in P2P mode. Connected ISDN PBXs can be synchronized via the integrated clock output (T4) resp. the S0 interfaces which are synchronized to the central clock.
